FAQ
Is a surgical procedure involved?
No. The treatment is administered via an injection pen and pills by you, or a family member at home.

How long will it take til I get better?
Technology has not yet advanced to a stage where we can predict with certainty how long it will take for you to recover functions. Other factors, such as how severe the damage is, number of years since the event happened and your current medical status play a role in the time it takes. It can take months to years.

Will I get all my functions back?
This is a very difficult question to answer, as advanced technology is not yet available to predict this with certainty. However we can say that there is no such thing as a 100% recovery. We do not believe in giving false hope. We are able to determine if there will be recovery and this is after an investigation is done into your case.

Can I claim on Medical Aid?
Depending on your medical aid, you will be able to get therapies, such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or speech therapy. The actual medications and Case Management of your case is not claimable on Medical Aid. We have had a case though where they were able to claim the medications on Medical Aid after providing a motivation.

Am I a good Candidate for Treatment?
We do not necessarily take on all Candidates who apply for treatment. For instance, if you have had any form of Cancer, we will not be able to place you on treatment. There are many factors that we look at to determine if you will benefit from treatment.

What would I have to do during treatment?
You will be expected to adhere at all times to the Treatment Protocols and the Treatment Plan. For treatment to work, it is critical to create neurogenesis and then utilise this via neuroplasticity to regain motor and cognitive functions. It takes commitment from you and your family on a daily basis.

Do you have a Clinic?
Unfortunately we do not have a Clinic as yet in South Africa so you would need to go and visit your various Medical Specialists/ Doctors/Therapists at their offices. It would be preferable to have a Clinic and this is an aspect that we are working on as cohesion between the various therapies and treatment is critical.
What is the procedure?
An initial appointment is given to explain the treatment, gain information on your condition and get an initial idea on whether you would be suitable for Treatment. You need to bring all medical reports/documents/copies of MRI Scans,EEG's /ECG's etc. At this appointment you will be asked to have blood tests done, which will then be sent to the Foltra Foundation for assessment. If there are initial indications that you are a suitable candidate, you will then undergo a thorough investigation. The Investigative report is then sent to the Foltra Foundation for analysis, along with your medical records. The Foltra Foundation then issues recommendations and a Treatment Plan, along with scripts. The recommendations, Treatment Plan and Scripts are then provided with your legal consent to your treating Doctor, as well as the Lead Practitioner in your area. The recommendations and Treatment Plan are then explained to you, along with your Treating Doctor, so that we can all work together as a team to ensure that you gain optimal benefit. We, as a Team then implement your Treatment Plan and monitor you closely for the first month. Thereafter you are monitored monthly and where necessary, the treatment plan is adjusted, or left as is. Motivation letters are also provided where required, along with Scripts and other administrative work which you may need.
